India in Germany (Embassy of India, Berlin), in collaboration with India in Germany (Consulate General of India, Munich) and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), organized an insightful event focusing on ‘Enhancing Partnerships and Collaboration among Indian Organic Product Manufacturers and German/EU Retailers’. The event was held on the sidelines of BIOFACH 2025 at the Nürnberg Messe, a prominent global platform for organic products.
Key highlights of the event:
1. Discussions on Organic Farming Growth in India: Abhishek Dev, Chairman of APEDA, and Shatrughna Sinha, Consul General of India in Munich, highlighted the rapid growth of organic farming in India. India has become one of the world’s leading producers of organic products, thanks to its diverse climate and the increasing adoption of sustainable farming practices. The focus was on the potential of Indian organic products, ranging from food items like grains, spices, and fruits to processed organic products, to make a significant impact in the German and EU markets.
2. Opportunities for Indian Organic Products: The discussion emphasized how Indian organic product manufacturers can collaborate with retailers in Germany and the European Union. The demand for organic and sustainable food products in these regions has been on the rise, making it an opportune moment for Indian producers to expand their presence and cater to European consumers.
3. Q&A and Networking Session: The event concluded with a productive Q&A session, where Indian manufacturers and German/EU retailers exchanged ideas on market entry strategies, regulatory requirements, and the logistics of supplying Indian organic products to European markets. This was followed by a networking session, allowing participants to explore potential partnerships and collaborations.
4. Strengthening Trade Relations: The event aimed to strengthen bilateral trade relations between India and Germany, particularly in the organic food sector, by encouraging collaboration between stakeholders and enhancing the visibility of Indian organic products in European markets.
This initiative is expected to open up new business opportunities for Indian organic product manufacturers while contributing to the growing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly food products in Germany and the EU.
