“Deepavali Goes Global: Celebrations in Djibouti”
On 10 December 2025, the Embassy of India, Djibouti, in collaboration with INS Teg on OTR to Djibouti, celebrated the vibrant “Deepavali Goes Global” event.
The occasion marked the proud inscription of Deepawali into UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity — a recognition of the festival’s universal message and enduring cultural significance.
Deepawali, celebrated across the world, symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, filling communities with hope, joy, and prosperity.
During the event, participants created beautiful rangolis and lit traditional diyas, adding colour and warmth to the celebration.
