Deepa Hegde is an artistic and a lively dancer with more than 15 years of performance experience. Over the years, she has contributed to the Bharatanatyam art form through her continued performance at both national and international platforms.

Born in Sirsi, a beautiful town on the western ghats in Karnataka state of India, Deepa is blessed to have come from a family that admires, performs, and encourages classical Indian art forms including Yakshagana, Hindustanani vocal and instrumental, and Bharatanayam. From the early age of six, she started pursuing Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of her Guru Dr. Sahana Bhat. Through rigorous training and after honing her skills, in 2005, she performed her Arangetrum (a solo debut performance). She was featured in many dance productions as a lead role under the direction of Dr. Sahana Bhat.

After her studies, she moved to Banglore and since then she is training under renowned Bharatantyam Dancer and Guru Karnataka kalashree Sathyanarayana Raju. Deepa is fortunate to learn nuances of Abhinaya and comprehensive technical aspects of the art form from him. She has had the opportunity to perform solo and group performances in prestigious venues of India and Europe under the guidance of Sathyanarayana Raju.

Practicing dance for more than 20 years, Deepa has completed Vidwat grade in Bharatanatyam from Karnataka Secondary Education and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Bharatanatyam from Tamil University, Tanjore. She has had the privilege of learning from veterans like Padmashri Vyjayanthimala Bali, Guru Smt. Bragha Bessel, Padmashri Narthaki Nataraj. Over the years, apart from giving group performances, she has also evolved into soloist with her own choreography.

Currently she is based out in Munich, Germany and she is doing her movement studies certification under the guidance of Dr. Rajyashree Ramesh. She is actively performing and collaborating with artists from various disciplines.
