*Bharat Diwali Mela: A Historic Celebration of Unity in Munich*
Munich, Germany – The vibrant spirit of Diwali resonated across the city as the Bharat Deewali Mela, a groundbreaking festival, brought together the Indian community like never before. Organized by the Delhi in Munich group, this momentous event was graced by the presence of Mr. Shatrughna Sinha, the Consul General of India in Munich, along with Ms. Anshika Singh from the Munich Migration Council.
Sanjeev Sharma, a key member of the organizing committee alongside Shobhit Sarin and Ravi Rakheja, shared his excitement about the event. “For the first time in Germany, members of various Indian communities came together to celebrate Diwali, showcasing the richness of our culture through food, music, and traditional performances,” he remarked. During the event, Mr. Sunil Singh was also present, sharing valuable insights and ideas that became the backbone of the event’s successful execution.
The event featured diverse food stalls operated by community groups including Munich Gujarati Samaj e.V., Odia Samaj Munich, MATA – Mana Telugu Association, München Tamil Sangam, Bihar & Jharkhand Association, Kerala Samajam Munich e.V., Matri Mandir Munich, Hindi Parivaar Munich, and the Kashmiri Association, IGCA among others.
As attendees entered the venue, they were greeted by the delicious aromas of traditional Indian dishes. Local residents also joined in the festivities, experiencing the flavors and vibrant culture of India. Over 1,400 people attended the event, which served as a powerful reminder of the strength and unity of the Indian community in Munich.
The cultural program featured performances that highlighted the diverse traditions from across India. Various community representatives, including those from the Jagannath Temple,
Sivaalayam temple, Satyug Samaj, and ISKCON Munich, contributed to the rich tapestry of entertainment, making the event a true celebration of Bharat’s cultural heritage.
The Bharat Deewali Mela was made possible by generous sponsors including Ergo Finance, Hausvalley.com, indoeuropean.eu One Munich Fahrschule, One Munich Sisa Bar, D4Dance, Indian Tours, and Swadesh. Special thanks were also extended to food and beverage partners Taj Mahal, Dessi Tadka, and Tattva for providing authentic flavors that enhanced the festive atmosphere.
