Ayurveda: The Timeless Science of Life and Longevity

The term ‘Ayurveda’ comes from Sanskrit and is a combination of the words ‘ayus’ (life or longevity) and ‘veda’ (knowledge or science).
Ayurveda therefore means ‘the science of life’ or ‘the science of longevity’.
Ayurveda is a healing art that is thousands of years old. It is the health system of the ancient Indian Vedic civilization and is considered the oldest health system in the world. Ayurveda is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a traditional medicine.
