Celebration of Tamil New Year 2022 (April 23, 2022)
Indian Tamil Diaspora (Hamburg Tamil Sangam) in association with Consulate General of India, Hamburg celebrated Tamil New Year 2022 on 23rd April 2022 at Feuervogel, Hamburg. Mr. Gulshan Dhingra, Vice Consul, Consulate General of India, Hamburg attended the event as Chief Guest. A total of 264 people (including adults and kids) participated in the event with due compliance to COVID regulations. Participants were more than delighted to meet fellow Tamil people in colourful Tamil traditional attires, as such a face-to-face event didn’t happen in the last three years. The six-hour event included Tamil traditional games, several cultural programs, display of variety of children’s talent. The event ended with salutation to National Anthem, after which a warm and delicious dinner was served. One of the key highlights of the event was inauguration of Mobile Library Initiative by Hamburg Tamil Sangam Readers Club. As a token of this initiative, Chief Guest was presented with a copy of book “Thirukkural”, one of classical Tamil literature that contains virtues of humanity, governance and love. In addition, in order to encourage Tamil reading, all children received Tamil books as gifts. Over all, the event was well received by Tamil Community.
