On February 22–23, 2025, JNCC Moscow hosted the National School of Drama Repertory Company as part of the World Hindi Day 2025 celebrations.
The troupe showcased their Hindi play “Babuji,” directed by Shri Rajesh Singh, with back-to-back performances at the GITIS Training Theatre and the Moscow International Performing Arts Centre.
“Babuji,” presented in the traditional Nautanki folk theatre style, highlighted the challenges faced by artists striving to preserve their cultural heritage amid personal, social, and economic pressures. The play was met with enthusiastic applause from both Indian and Russian audiences, including students of the Hindi language.
The event was graced by the presence of H.E. Mr. Vinay Kumar, Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, who commended the performers for their compelling portrayal and expressed gratitude to the audience for their support.
Following the Moscow performances, the troupe is set to travel to St. Petersburg, where they will perform “Babuji” again and lead a theatre workshop, organized by the Consulate General of India in St. Petersburg.
