The Embassy of India in Copenhagen hosted a soulful evening of Indian classical music titled “A Homage to Ustad Zakir Hussain (1951–2024)”, Padma Vibhushan, paying tribute to the legendary maestro whose artistry transformed global appreciation of Indian percussion. The event was organised in collaboration with Association Saptak India and DanCenter, bringing together distinguished artists and music lovers for a memorable cultural celebration.

Ambassador Manish Prabhat welcomed the maestros and the audience, reflecting on Ustad Zakir Hussain’s unparalleled legacy and his immense contribution to Indian classical music and global musical dialogue. He conveyed gratitude to the artists and partner organisations for creating an unforgettable tribute that resonated deeply with all present.
As a special highlight, the artists performed “Vande Mataram”, honouring the ongoing 150th anniversary of India’s national song and adding a patriotic note to the evening’s emotional resonance.
