Diwali Celebration Lights Up Munich: A Joyous Festival for the UP Community

Event is graced by Mr. Shatrughna Sinha, the Consul General of India in Munich accompanied by Mr. Niranjan Kimar, Vice Consul.

Munich, [October 2024] — The Uttar Pradesh (UP) families residing in Munich came together this past weekend to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, in a vibrant and heartwarming event that showcased Indian culture, traditions, and community spirit. Organized by the UP community, the celebration featured an array of cultural performances, traditional Indian music, and a festive feast enjoyed by all ages.

The event began with the lighting of diyas (traditional lamps) to signify the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, a central theme of Diwali. Guests enjoyed folk dances, music performances, and a vibrant rangoli display that highlighted the artistic traditions of Uttar Pradesh. Children participated in games and crafts, while the adults mingled and shared stories, bringing a touch of India to Munich’s winter chill.

“We are thrilled to bring a piece of our home culture to Munich and share it with friends and family here,” said one of the organizers. “Diwali is a time for togetherness, and it’s heartwarming to see our community come together to celebrate this beautiful festival.”

The evening concluded with a grand feast featuring traditional Indian delicacies, bringing an authentic taste of Uttar Pradesh to everyone’s plates. The event was a true celebration of unity, joy, and cultural pride, illuminating Munich with the warm glow of Diwali.

UP Families core committee members along with all the volunteers thanked the participants specifically the kids for very well orienting themselves to the Godly Avatars.
